This is a real movie and it's coming to a theater near you in April. At least I think it's a real movie. It does open on April Fool's Day but has already been shown at Cannes... where it received less than glowing reviews. I hope this wave of grindhouse influenced films continues as directors take their cues from Tarantino, Rodriguez, and Zombie and create their own completely ludicrous yet intriguing movies. Hobo with a Shotgun is another grindhouse throwback that comes out this spring.
Rubber is about a homicidal car tire named Robert that meanders through the California desert slaughtering people with its psychic powers. Apparently, there's also a love affair involving Robert although I'm not sure how that would work. Who could love a maniacal tire?
The trailer will give you an idea of what to expect. Of course, I'm going to see it.
