I have Shutterbug to thank for this one. About a week ago I posted a grindhouse movie poster extravaganza that included some poster art for Chinese Super Ninjas. I had no intention of seeing any of those movies in that post until she asked whether Super Ninjas was worth seeing. So I tracked down a copy and gave it a go. In this 1980s martial arts masterpiece, a school of Chinese kung-fu practitioners is shamed and cursed by a rival school of Japanese martial artists. To remove this curse and return honor to their school, the Chinese must take on the Japanese ninjas who embody each of the five elements of gold, fire, water, earth, and wood. To do so, they too must learn the ways of the ninja.
Chinese Super Ninjas is pretty much nonstop action. There is little plot but who cares when there is so much garish, cartoonish, over the top violence. So my answer is yes, Shutterbug. If you like campy kung-fu films, you have to see this. The fight choreography and wire-work is amazing.
Here, after learning the art of ninjutsu, the Chinese guys take on the Japanese wood ninjas...
