The Erotic Adventures of Zorro (1972)

The first movie rated Z

The Erotic Adventures of Zorro
When I was a kid I used to watch the old black and white Disney Zorro series when I got home from school.  I loved the sanitized Disney action and wholesome message of that series.  Obviously, The Erotic Adventures of Zorro is a bit different.  I would guess there's only so much that can be done to the Zorro story so adding gratuitous nudity, terrible swordplay and even worse acting is what this film contributes.  It tries to be a comedy and it tries to be a porn.  I never laughed, but the boobies are nice.

The Erotic Adventures of Zorro tells the usual story of the masked, swashbuckling rogue with a couple of exceptions.  By night, Zorro battles corruption and rescues fair maidens from the hands of evil men as usual, but then has his way with them - the fair maidens, not the evil men.  And I don't remember ever seeing bush in the Disney version.  Also, when Don Diego de la Vega is not dressed up as his alter ego, he pretends he's gay.

I guess I should explain the plot for those who are not familiar with the Zorro tale, or at least this version of it.  When a power-hungry magistrate begins taxing the people into even greater poverty, the former magistrate sends for his son Don Diego to return to the small California town from a Mexican military school to help set things straight.  Don Diego hides his fencing prowess and pretends to be gay so that others will not suspect him of being a threat.  At night, he dons the black mask and cape and becomes Zorro to battle those corrupt officials who exploit and abuse the common folk, and in this version, he gets rewarded by the ladies.

The "humor" in The Erotic Adventures of Zorro is so bad that it made me cringe at times, and the acting is even worse.  If you watch this movie when you're drunk, it may be the greatest film you have ever seen.  If you watch it sober, well...  good luck with that.

Violence Rating: 1.5 out of 5
