I Love You Filthy Hobo

By now everyone is probably familiar with the Canuxploitation throwback Hobo with a Shotgun, but if after watching it you found yourself thinking - Gee, that was pretty awesome but I haven't quite had my fill of hobo-based cinema.  Well, head on over to Holy Taco to see a list of 24 other movies featuring drifters who were born to walk alone...  Now I have that Whitesnake song in my head again.

Anyway, one of them has Charles Bronson and one has Gerald McRaney and both are complete badasses.  I haven't seen the McRaney one and it looks like a Christmas movie so I'm guessing he destroys anyone who gets in Santa's way.  I may be wrong about that.

And for all the Canadians, here's a video of another famous hobo from the Great White North.  Although, this one doesn't carry a shotgun.  Canucks really seem to like their hobos.

You've Always Been the Caretaker.

BuzzFeed has 39 versions of poster art for Stanley Kubrick's kick-ass 1980 horror film The Shining, and they are all made by fans.  Most of them are better than the original, me thinks.

On a side note, The Shining is the only movie I can think of that was better than the book.

Grindhouse Movie Poster Extravaganza #9! Canada Day Edition

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canucks.  Have a great weekend and remember to drink responsibly!   Like that's going to happen.  Here are just a few posters from the many Canadian grindhouse films that have been made over the years, including Claudia Jennings's last movie.  Later!

Grindhouse Movie Poster Extravaganza #8! ...I Think!

It's been a while since I've posted any old school  poster art so here are some fine examples of the classiness of the grindhouse genre.  I hope my fellow Canucks are enjoying the Victoria Day long weekend.  I'm off to work.

Grindhouse Movie Poster Extravaganza #7!

Greetings and salutations.  Here are some grindhouse movie posters for your viewing pleasure (or not) on this fine Sunday because I don't have time to write a movie review.  I'll be back tomorrow with one of the lovely ladies of grindhouse.  Have a great day!

Can anybody guess which Bruce Lee movie this screenshot is from?

Nostalgia

Yesterday I revealed that I had spent a significant amount of my childhood in my parents' video store mesmerized by the gruesome artwork of the movie covers and posters.  This is the one that fascinated me the most.  For some reason I spent more time trying to draw the cover of The Return of the Living Dead than any other movie that we had at the store.  Maybe it was because these weren't just zombies, they were punk rock zombies!  Years later I finally got to see it and it's a damn good zombie movie.  I'll have to review it one of these days.

Have a great weekend everybody!  I'll try to post a review of an obscure Japanese film later today.

Grindhouse Movie Poster Extravaganza #6!

It's Saturday so that means another edition of the Grindhouse Movie Poster Extravaganza!  Hooray!  So here is some more poster art from some not so classic films.  Have a great weekend everybody and thanks again for supporting Beasts in Human Skin.  I really do appreciate it!

This week's mystery screenshot is from a rather obscure movie with a famous leading man.  Can you guess which movie this comes from?

Grindhouse Movie Poster Extravaganza #5: Hammer Horror Week Edition

Hammer Horror Week is will soon come to an end.  Tomorrow will be the last review but I saved the best for last.  Well, it may not be the best but it's the most "grindhousy" of them all.  Until then, here is some Hammer movie poster art to peruse at your leisure.  Have a great weekend everybody!

Also, here's a screenshot from a Hammer film that I did not showcase during Hammer Horror Week.  Can anyone guess which movie this comes from?

Grindhouse Movie Poster Extravaganza #3!

Unfortunately, My quest to find Slaughter in San Francisco the other day failed but I did find An Eye for an Eye so I'm looking forward to watching it later today.  I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't seen many Chuck Norris grindhouse movies before, so this is something I'll have to remedy.  I think a Chuck Norris movie marathon may be in order.

I hope everybody has a great weekend and that it's warmer where you are.  Spring has to come sometime, right?
