Little Red Riding Hood has 40 Inch Breasts. Werewolves Fight Japanese Virgins in RED SWORD!

There really isn't much I need to say about this upcoming Japanese splatter-eros.  It has blood and boobies and katanas and werewolves.  And it's Japanese.  It may just be the perfect movie.  Just watch the trailer and you will see.

Long, long ago, there was a wolf-man tribe who had no women. All through history these desperate wolf men have attacked and raped female humans as a way to continue their species. But the wolf men have a terrible legend where every hundred years, on the night of a red moon, a little girl is born and she is destined to destroy the wolf-man tribe. The lecherous wolf men are so afraid of females that they have developed a code which requires they kill baby girls soon after they are born. But only the lovely Beniko Akatsuki survives this terrible fate.

These days, Beniko fights endless battles against the wolf men. Poor Beniko's mother was ruthlessly raped by a wolf man and gave birth to Beniko. To save her baby girl, Beniko's mother had to sacrifice her own life. Now, Beniko wears a memento of her beloved mother, a red riding hood, and she has dedicated her life to killing all the wolf men. One day, Beniko senses that the evil wolf men are sneaking into a high school. The clever Beniko pretends she is a school girl and starts attending school, only to find vicious, horny pack of female-deprived wolf men. Beniko protects her fellow school girls as she fights them off with her sword and her red riding hood.

Will the brave, sexy Beniko Red Riding Hood be able to finally kill the vicious pack of sex-starved wolf-men?

The Beast Must Die (1974)

One of these eight people will turn into a werewolf. Can you guess who it is when we stop the film for the WEREWOLF BREAK? See it ... solve it ... but don't tell!

The Beast Must Die
I shit the bed.  When the "werewolf break" came I couldn't correctly guess who the werewolf was.  Well, I shouldn't be too hard on myself because I was partly right, but still, I failed.  I hang my head in shame.

So The Beast Must Die is sort of like a murder mystery but instead of just figuring out who the murderer is, the viewer must figure out who the werewolf is.  It's like a combination of a Hammer horror movie, Clue: The Movie and The Most Dangerous Game with some blaxploitation thrown in for good measure.

An eccentric black guy (Calvin Lockhart) has too much money and an obsession with hunting.  He has tired of killing mundane creatures and now wishes to hunt the most dangerous game of all...  the werewolf!  He hires a security expert and has video cameras and microphones placed all over his estate and then hosts a dinner party.  To this party, he invites a bunch of white people.  One is an expert on lycanthropy (and is skillfully played by Peter Cushing), one is a convicted cannibal, and the others are just people who have been implicated in horrific murders over the years.  Any one of them could be the werewolf.

The black guy forces them all to stay at his estate until the rising of the full moon will force the werewolf to transform into the beast that it is.  At this point he will be able to hunt it down and put its head on his wall, I guess. It's never really explained what he will do with the trophy once he shoots it.  Anyway, the werewolf is crafty and things don't go as planned.  Innocents are killed, the surveillance equipment is destroyed and still nobody knows who the werewolf is.  That's when the "werewolf break" comes.  The viewer gets 30 seconds to try to figure out who the beast is before the climax of the film.

I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I liked this movie.  There are no boobies, very little blood and it's not at all scary.  In fact, the "werewolf" is played by a medium-sized German Shepherd.  This is one of the few movies I've reviewed that is probably suitable for kids, but I don't care.  I still recommend it.

The Werewolf Vs. Vampire Woman (1971)

The Blood Flows Like Vintage Wine

The Werewolf Vs. Vampire Woman
I watched this film many years ago and quite enjoyed it but the quality of the VHS copy was so horrible that it detracted from the movie.  The Werewolf Vs. Vampire Woman is the original English title for this film but I recommend you track down a copy of the "recently" released DVD called Werewolf Shadow if you want the best version of this movie.  It's the same film but uncut, in widescreen and remastered by Anchor Bay.  Now onto the film.

The Werewolf Vs. Vampire Woman has a Hammer Horror feel to it and a werewolf that looks straight out of a Universal Pictures monster movie.  I like both of these things.

Our story begins as two doctors remove silver bullets from the body of a man during an autopsy while dismissing local werewolf legends as superstition.  The corpse returns to the land of the living once the silver is extracted, and escapes.  Later, two lovely young ladies are driving through the countryside to examine the tomb of an alleged vampire countess when they realize that they are lost and almost out of gas.  Luckily a local man, Daninsky, is nearby and invites them to his estate until his hired help can drive them to the distant village for gas in a day or two.  Once at the estate, the two girls are molested and/or physically assaulted by the man's psychotic sister.  But whatever, back to the main plot.

"I've seen the Samburu do this on the National Geographic channel."
Daninsky and the two girls hike to the tomb of the vampire countess and accidentally awaken her from her undead slumber when one of the girls cuts herself and drips blood into the mouth of the corpse.  The Countess soon gets to work draining the blood from the girls after they return to the estate and tries to turn them into undead bloodsuckers like herself.  However, Daninsky and one of the girls have fallen in love and he will do anything to protect her from "Satan's favorite mistress."  Oh, and I forgot to mention that he's the werewolf.

This is another tough call.  I liked this film but I'm not so sure others will.  The pacing is often slow and the effects are dated.  I guess if you are a fan of old school monster movies or like the style and atmosphere of Hammer horror films, you'll probably like The Werewolf Vs. Vampire Woman as well.
